I am looking at around $8500 in the car with a new clutch. Most of the terminator swaps are around $9000-$10000, with at least 40000 miles The 2003-2004 Cobra Terminator engines continue to be a popular swap engine because they are easy to modify and produce a lot of power. If going diy with used engine then I would agree sub $4k is feasible. I think the biggest deciding factor will be which engine you can get for good deal and what your current wrangler+trans is, the AX15 or TJ NSG370 is easy for gm v8 swap and both can handle stock 4.8/5.3 maybe 6.0 power. In my area 5.3's seem to be available for $750-1000 and. wiring alternator on ls swap. I am doing an ls swap in my 67 camaro (5.3 twin turbo setup). I am using the 105 amp truck alternate that came with the motor. It is a 4 wire and I am unsure how it needs be wires since I am using a Holley ecu.
